Ewell, Dewaine H.


Dewaine H. Ewell "Till we meet again" Dewaine Hosmer Ewell, 81, beloved husband, father, son, Grandpa, brother and friend, completed his earthly mission with honor and passed away at home and into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2010.Dewaine was born March 1, 1929 to Hosmer and Alice Egbert Ewell. Dewaine married his true love, Cherle Bradford in 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple, sealed by President Spencer W. Kimball. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He attended Provo High School and continued on to BYU where he played football and studied Botany. Dewaine was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held numerous callings, including Bishopric Counselor, High Priest Group Leader, Elder's Quorum President, Young Men's Advisor and Ward Mission Leader. He served faithfully as one of the first LDS missionaries in Hong Kong, China. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Dewaine was an extremely hard worker and provided for his family, serving for 30 plus years with the U.S. Postal Service, mainly in the Millcreek area. Dewaine was an avid lover of the Utah Mountains. He loved to fish, hunt and hike, and in his earlier years hiked "Timp" many times. Dewaine is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Cherle; children, KayLin Olsen (Roger), Sandy Ewell, Bradford Dewaine Ewell (Teri), Robyn Johnson (Stephen), Ryan Ewell (Tammy); 14 wonderful grandchildren; brothers, Monte, Bill, Rich and Gene; and younger sister, Elaine. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Millcreek LDS Stake Center, 4220 S. 420 E., Salt Lake City, UT. Friends and family may call Friday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., Murray, UT from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Millcreek Stake Center from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Murray City Cemetery. Published in Deseret News from May 12 to May 13, 2010
