Gary McClellan Ewell
(October 21, 1941 - July 24, 2006)
Gary McClellan Ewell, 64, passed away on July 24, 2006 of heart failure.

He was born on October 21, 1941 in Murray, Utah to Vaudis Larsen Ewell and McClellan Lorenzo Ewell. He married Sharlene Cannon on June 10, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Gary was a kind and loving father, grandfather, son, and husband. He was a selfless man who devoted his entire life for the betterment of his family. His family came first and foremost. He consistently sacrificed his time, talents and heart for his family. Everyone who knows Gary recognizes him for his loving heart, kind personality, unique talents and strong work ethic. He enjoyed serving and helping others. He also loved to travel with his family.

He was an active member of the LDS church, holding many church positions including High Priest Group Leader and Instructor. He supported and sent all 7 of his sons on missions.

By trade, Gary was a Plumber/Pipefitter for approximately 40 years. He belonged to Local #57 Plumber/Pipefitters Union and retired as a General Foreman from Moss Industrial in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene; all 10 children: Jerry (Lori), Kevin (JeriLyn), Darren (Lori), Korine (Jeff) Cook, Mark (Jill), Richard (Becky), Randy, Gary (Holly), Christine (William) Cooper, Sherrie (Adam) Drais; 38 grandchildren and his first great-grandchild on the way; his mother, Vaudis Ewell; brother, Bill (Karen) Ewell; mother-in-law, Idonna Cannon and many loving friends. Preceded in death by his father, McClellan “Mac” Ewell; his younger brother, William V. Ewell; and his father-in-law, James A. Cannon.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S), where friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 9th Ward, 2030 W. Chateau Ave. (5225 S.) and friends may visit there from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
