Proposed Change: Margaret YOWELL (I472)
Tree: Ewell's in America
Link: http://www.ewellfamily.org/genealogy//getperson.php?personID=I472&tree=ewellcombo

Description: Margaret Ann Yowell, daughter of Rowland (Roland) Yowell and Sarah "Sally" Mitchell, was born on 6 Jan 1818 in Madison Co., VA, and died on 4 Dec 1916 in Greene Co., OH. This is the information from her death certificate. She also married a second time to Isaac Fenner on 22 July 1860 in Highland Co., Ohio, after her first husband, Hansford, died on 31 Jan 1855 in Highland Co., Ohio.

Margaret and Hansford (my 3rd great-grandparents) had five children:

1. Percissia (or Percatia) Ann Corbin, b. 15 Mar 1845 in Rappahannock Co., VA; d. 29 Aug 1859 in Jackson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. She is buried at Storer Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio.

2. James W. Corbin, b. 5 Feb 1847 in Rappahannock Co., VA; d. 6 Sept 1859 in Jackson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. He is also buried at Storer Cemetery.

3. Mary Elizabeth Corbin, b. Feb 1849 in Rappahannock Co., VA; d. 2 May 1896 in Jackson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. She is buried "on a farm near Belfast, Highland Co., Ohio" according to my grandmother (though there is no tombstone for her -- I am guessing that grandma meant Storer Cemetery, as most of Mary's Corbin relatives are buried in that cemetery and it is located on a farm between Belfast and Fairfax, but I do not know for certain). Mary Elizabeth Corbin is my great-great grandmother. She married George W. Nace on 18 Apr 1867 in Highland Co., Ohio. They had 11 children.

4. Genova Corbin, b. 8 Sept 1851 in Rappahannock Co., VA; d. 19 Apr 1875 in Concord Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. She married John Wesley Shaw on 12 Sept 1867 in Highland Co., Ohio. They had four children. Genova died a few weeks after her daughter, Cornelia Ann Shaw, was born.

5. Sarah V. Corbin, b. 15 May 1853; d. 15 Jan 1855 in Jackson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. She is buried at Storer Cemetery.

Margaret and her second husband, Isaac Fenner, had one child:

6. Savilla Gavie Fenner, b. 28 Jan 1862 in Highland Co., Ohio; d. 12 Apr 1936 in Bowersville, Greene Co., Ohio. She married John Lewis on 7 Nov 1878 in Highland Co., Ohio.

After Margaret's second husband Isaac died in 1868, she lived with her daughter Savilla's family, moving with them to Greene Co., Ohio, in the 1880s.

I sent information giving my great great grandmother, Lucinda Hunt
Ewell as having been born in January (I guessed this as the February
date would have the same birthday as her husband born Feb 25, 1803,
she born in 1805.) Since she died 18 Feb 1890 in East Friendship
age 84 years 11 months 24 days as written in Rockland Gazette of Feb
25 1890, the month she died must have been February. It seemed too
much of a coincidence that both were born on same day. My
information came from my great grandfather, William Ewell's wallet
which had been chewed by a mouse where the month would have appeared.
I leave this to your math. Priscilla Smith

John Ewell born 6/7/1699 Scituate married Elizabeth Studley born 6/8/1701 Scituate d/o Benjamin Studley & Mary Merritt. Elizabeth is named in father Benjamin's Will dated 1742 "my daughter Elizabeth Ewell" (Plymouth probate V9;P176-177). Further, various Plymouth deeds show John Ewell abutted property owned by Benjamin Studley and his sons (brothers to Elizabeth).

"The vacancy in the first council of seventy occasioned by the advancement of Abraham H. Cannon to the apostolate was filled at the April conference of 1890, by the selection of Elder George Reynolds to the position. Elder Reynolds, it will be remembered, was the one whose case, when he was charged with polygamy, went to the supreme court of the United States to test the constitutionality of the anti-polygamy law of 1862, who had suffered a two years' term of imprisonment (1879 - 1881) in consequence of that action."
