Seal to Par: IGI, SLTemple record lists parents name as William Fletcher Ewell and Mary Caldwell Ewell

Mary Jane Ewell was born four months after her father died. She was carried across the plains on the hip of her mother. William was away from home for long stretches of time working in the mines at Tintic and much of the job of raising a family fell on her. She was the quiet, kindly, but resolute person to whom both her family and neighbors looked to when problems arose.
